Kissou | 麺屋 吉左右
Style: Tonkotsu-Gyokai Double Soup
Bowl to Crush: Ajitama Ramen 味玉らーめん
At one time some years back, Kissou was ranked amongst the top-five best overall ramen shops in Tokyo. As a result, the crowds were thick and it usually took well over an hour to score a seat. The shop still scores rave reviews, but the wait times aren't quite as bad as they used to be. The shop is run by a dedicated husband and wife team, with no support staff. The husband makes the ramen, while the wife handles the customers.
Kissou serves a double soup of tonkotsu and gyokai. The noodles are house-made, and the egg topping is simply perfect. Both the tsukemen and ramen are renowned, but we prefer the ramen. If you find yourself on the east side of Tokyo, Kissou is definitely worth checking out. Only open for lunch.
